Banco Bradesco was founded in 1943 as a commercial bank under the name “Banco Brasileiro de Descontos S.A.”. In 1948, the bank entered a period of intense expansion, which made it becoming Brazil’s largest commercial bank in the private sector at the end of the 1960s.
