Antigua and Barbuda is an island country in the Caribbean Sea. The capital is St. John's. The official language is English. The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD). The largest sector of the economy is services (tourism). Debt securities are traded on the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE). The bond market of Antigua and Barbuda is represented primarily by the government sector. The corporate sector is virtually undeveloped, with no corporate bonds outstanding. The main issuer in the bond market is the government of the country, which issues treasury bills, notes, and bonds in Eastern Caribbean dollars. The government bond market is represented by securities issued by the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury. Macroeconomics: As of 2024, GDP growth was 10.45%, and in 2025 - 3.0%. Annual inflation as of 2025 - 1.4%. The key interest rate is determined by the monetary policy of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). General government debt as of 2025 - approximately 68% of GDP. Primary budget surplus - approximately 5% of GDP. The trade balance is negative. The current account deficit in 2025 was approximately 11.5% of GDP. Exports are significantly lower than imports.
